Saturday is Tell a Story Day

“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.”
― Philip Pullman

There's nothing quite like a good story to remind us of our similarities, stir our emotions, and share valuable information. In honor of National Tell a Story Day, I encourage you to take a break from your everyday life this Saturday to tell a story that's important to you...something from your past, your vision of your future, a lesson you've learned, or anything the listener may enjoy.

The Art of Detection

One of my favorite authors is Laurie King. I follow her Mary Russell (wife of Sherlock Holmes) series and modern-day San Francisco police detective Kate Martinelli mysteries.

The fifth book in the Kate Martinelli series, The Art of Detection, is a blended story of the present, the policewoman Kate Martinelli, and a very mysterious man who has recreated his life as a clone of Sherlock Holmes from the past. Laurie King touches upon several themes including complicated relationships, and non-traditional lifestyles. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of her books and this is no exception.
